Practice Experience

Native New Yorker and first generation Cuban-American Sylvia Lind had a colorful career before her recent relocation to Florida.  The bilingual attorney spent more than two decades at Major League Baseball, primarily handling corporate matters and trademark licensing and overseeing the Major League Clubs’ relationship with the Minor Leagues.  During her tenure, she dealt discretely with high-profile individuals and globally-recognized powerhouses, and was co-creator of the annual All-Star Futures Game and the Civil Rights Game.  She also served on the board of the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy & High School and the Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy Foundation.

Post-MLB, Sylvia has continued to evaluate legal risks relating to business operations, contracts, intellectual property, corporate compliance issues, potential business ventures and mergers and acquisitions, but has also added focuses in healthcare and employment.  She regularly represents clients in their buying, selling and continued operation of pharmacies, medical equipment providers and medical practices, dealing with licensing and credentialing with the Board of Pharmacy, the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), the DEA and third-party insurance payors.  Sylvia also advocates for clients dealing with audits or investigations by regulatory bodies including the DEA, the Florida Department of Health, the U.S. Department of Labor and the EEOC, and advises on proper employment practices relating to classification of employees, wage-hour laws and non-discrimination policies.

Sylvia is steadfast in believing anticipation is the key – the more scenarios we plan for, the better served the business is.  Her clients have always appreciated that “counselor” means more than just giving legal advice; an attorney who understands the goals and mindset of a businessperson proves invaluable.  Sylvia is also a Florida Circuit Court certified mediator.
